Saint Joseph's Roman Catholic Congregation in the city of Peru paid $125.00 for five acres in Bureau County for St. Joseph’s Cemetery (on the south side of Rte. 6 in Spring Valley).  Land has been added and Bob Rowe, the capable caretaker, estimates there are over 2500 people buried there today.  One of the loveliest ceremonies of the year is the outdoor Memorial Day Mass said before the image of St. Joseph in the cemetery.
